Media Studies Welcomes Two New Faculty

This Fall, the Department of Media Studies welcomes two new colleagues, Assistant Professor Olivia Stowell and Seth C. Lewis, Elcan Jefferson Scholars Foundation Distinguished Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Media Studies.

Assistant Professor Stowell recently received her PhD in Communication & Media from the University of Michigan, where her work explored post-2020 U.S. reality TV's formations of race, gender, and labor. This semester she's offering courses on women in television, screen culture, and the politics of reality television.

Distinguished Professor Seth Lewis has studied the social implications of emerging technologies for two decades, and his body of work has led the study of how technologies reshape journalism. His recent book Journalism in the Age of AI: From Acceleration to Reimagination was published this month by Polity Press.

You can learn more about Profs. Lewis and Stowell on our Faculty page, or see them at this week's New Faculty Reception
