Goin

Keara Goin's research interests focus on the role of media in identity negotiation among Afro-Latina/os, media-based racialization of Afro-Latina/os, and the performativity and intersections of race and gender. She has conducted fieldwork in the Dominican Republic and New York City as part of a continuing ethnographic study on Dominican identity. Currently working on her first book project, Mediated Dominicanidad (Indiana U Press), her most recent publications can be found in Latino Studies and Celebrity Studies.

Driscoll

Kevin Driscoll is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies. He specializes in technology, culture, and communication. His recent research concerns alternative histories of the internet, the politics of amateur telecommunications, and the moral economy of consumer software. In collaboration with Julien Mailland from Indiana University, he published "Minitel: Welcome to the Internet," a cultural and technological history of the French videotex network (MIT Press, 2017).

Davé

Shilpa Davé is an Associate Professor of Media Studies and American Studies and Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. 

Cavalcante

Andre Cavalcante is an associate professor with a dual appointment in the departments of Media Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Dr. Cavalcante's research explores lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) issues in media.  He also specializes in audience research and the qualitative study of media and everyday life.

Bodroghkozy

Aniko Bodroghkozy came to UVA in 2001 as one of the founding faculty members of the Media Studies Program. Before coming to Virginia, she taught for five years as an assistant professor at the University of Alberta in film and media studies. She has served UVA Media Studies as Interim Director from 2004 to 2006 and as Director of Undergraduate Programs from 2007 to 2012. She is currently co-director of Media Studies’ Distinguished Majors Program. Prof.
