Olivia Shepard

Olivia is a fourth year student from Woodbridge, Virginia double majoring in Studio Art and Media Studies. She is a multimedia creator who works in animation, cartooning, graphic design, and analog game design. In both her research and art, Olivia is interested in youth, feminine, and BIPOC media, games and their cultures, fantasy storytelling, and inviting play through her work. Specifically, she is interested in the social, economic, political, and cultural implications behind The Sims franchise, as well as using her creative work to combat racism and misogyny in games media. Olivia is a J. Sanford Miller Arts Scholar and through the program is currently designing a Regency Romance Table-top Roleplaying game. As a Masters student, Olivia aims to teach a class on The Sims and write her thesis on the intersection of ludology and pedagogy. In her free time, Olivia enjoys making Spotify playlists, drinking coffee, and playing Stardew Valley and The Sims 4. She/her.
